Pacific rim mobile game

Pacific rim mobile game

Pacific Rim Mobile is mobile game version of the movie based on the film of the same name directed by Guillermo Del Toro that was premiered on July 12, 2013. Developed by Reliance Games, along with the partnership with Behavior Interactive, the mobile game was launched for Android and iOS, which allows gamers to pilot giant robots called “Jaegers” to defend the Earth from invading aliens known as “Kaiju”.

Available both on the IOS and the Android, the mobile game features epic battles in the middle of a wrecked city as the gamers swipe and tap to defeat the Kaijus, aliens that have risen from the sea with the intended goal to wipe out humanity.

The game is loaded with weapons, multiple combos and devastating finishers; all in a desperate bid to save humanity from the grasp of the Kaiju.

How to play Pacific Rim mobile game

The game controls are on the bottom sides of the screen. Two visible meters are on the top of the screen; the orange meter is the life bar of your Jaeger, the blue meter is for the Kaiju.

You can use the side buttons to dodge the monster attacks and in addition, you can swipe the screen in varying directions to deliver blows to the enemy, whether it‘s a punch or an uppercut.

You can block the monster attacks by tapping and holding the bottom of the touch screen. In addition, you can parry attacks to leave an opening for a strike against the opponent.

If you deplete the enemy’s health completely, a meter will appear, signaling a finishing move in which you must execute in order to defeat the monster.

By winning battles, you can purchase additional Jaegers, extra weapons and upgrades.

Pacific Rim Pros

The graphics of the game are very detailed. The game soundtrack is very reminiscent of the movie, giving the impression of being in the movie itself.

In the Story Mode, gamers can play over 30 levels and challenge various monsters in intense combat that is based on the film.

In the Survival Mode, gamers can put their skills to the test with their own customized Jaeger and battle countless foes until they are defeated.

Pacific Rim Cons:

The background remains the same in every battle and the enemies are too similar; there is little variety in the environment and the monster designs.

Also, the destruction on the environment is very limited. The play style of the game does not fully emulate the battles depicted on the film.

Watching the same cut scene and finishing moves multiple times in a row begins to be repetitive.

Pacific Rim last thought:

Although the game is quite addicting for the first several minutes, Pacific Rim Mobile is basically a button-mashing, repeating, monster-mashing beat ‘em up. The mobile game tries to be true to the awesomeness of Guillermo Del Toro’s film, but sadly it did not meet the expectations. But, if you’re a fan of the movie and wanted to beat monsters up, this game is probably worth playing during the weekends, as a stress reliever.
